Nokia Lumia 930 Set For June Release in UK
Among the tidings this summer will bring is the new Nokia Lumia 930, the Finnish phone maker’s flagship handset.
A user of the networking site Reddit called O2 UK to find out the precise date of the phone’s arrival and was told by the upgrades team that barring any catastrophic testing failures, June 9th will be the d-day.
There will be the customary three-week delay after launch before the phones become available in the market, so Nokia fans will have to wait until the first week of July before they can get their hands on this smartphone.
One online retailer, Unlocked Mobiles, has announced an asking price of £524.98 and is allowing eager buyers to pre-order the phone now. It is the first store to do so. Amazon is also offering the Lumia 930 for pre-order in France and Germany.
A successor to the Nokia Lumia 925, the 930 boasts a host of improvements.
Key among this is the Windows 8.1 platform on which it will run. With this operating system comes a host of features including support for on-screen capacitive keys, customisable Live Tile backgrounds and a keyboard feature called Work Flow that offers faster response time.
Also among the features that have customers chomping at the bit is the 5-inch full HD screen that comes with 1080×1920 resolution.
The display is illuminated by Nokia’s Clearback technology which should offer users 180 degree viewing angles.
If you appreciate high quality stills you will be delighted with the Lumia 930’s 20MP camera which comes loaded with Carl Zeiss optics.
The camera is also capable of high quality video. A secondary 1.2MP camera is provided on the face of the device for your video calls.
Powering this gadget is a Snapdragon 800 CPU which offers 2.2GHz of processing power. Further enhancing the 930’s performance is 2GB of RAM. You may not have a microSD slot to ramp up internal storage, but the phone comes with 32GB of storage space.
Sustaining all the dazzling features is a Li-lon 2420mAh battery which Nokia says will guarantee users 15 hours and 30 minutes of talk time and stand-by time of 18 days.
Built to support wireless charging, you will find a wireless charger in the package delivered to you.
In terms of the design, the phone is a comparatively chunky 9.8mm thick and comes in a polycarbonate plastic casing available in four different colours.
