iPhone 6 Might Be Released Earlier Than Expected
It has been reported that Apple might break with tradition and release the iPhone 6 in August and not the customary September.
The sources (a Taiwanese iPhone manufacturing franchise Hon Hai Precision Industry and smartphone camera lens manufacturer Largan Precision) were not afraid to go on record saying that the 4.7 inch version of the phone could be unveiled in August and the 5.5 inch model released the following month.
The sources also hinted at possible simultaneous release of wearable devices, signalling Apple’s entry into this niche. It is widely thought that Apple will launch this landmark new smartphone alongside the iWatch.
If this is indeed the case, Apple will become the fourth horse in a race in which the Samsung Galaxy Gear has already built up a significant lead.
The release of this latest in the highly successful iPhone range is said by experts to be the most hotly anticipated in a long time.
iPhone 5S and its predecessor were widely received as upgrades to previous iPhone models but the iPhone 6 is looked at as a new dawn for Apple’s smartphone range.
And the good news of the early arrival of this new dawn might be officially out before summer is over. June or July might see the announcement of the 4.7 inch iPhone 6’s release date.
The smart money says to side with Apple diehards, who are virtually unanimous for a September unveiling.
And indeed the later release date also bodes well for Apple as it will allow them to push a few more iPhone 5S and 5C units before the flagship iPhone 6 makes its entrance. Given all the clamour and hullabaloo generated by the iPhone 6, it’s easy to forget the two phones were released just 8 months ago.
But even with such seemingly irrefutable sources I wouldn’t bet against the release date changing. Word around the tech grapevine is that the launch might even be pushed into 2015 asApple tries to source for batteries suitable to the 5.5 inch iPhone 6.
It’s wise to take news of early release dates with a grain or two of salt.
There are no guarantees in this product release game, especially given that Apple themselves have remained tight lipped regarding these rumours.
But this has not stopped optimists from hoping that the launch will be made during the Worldwide Developers’ Conference scheduled for June.
