HTC Desire 510 Launch Announced
Those who love the styling and performance of HTC products but have thought them beyond reach price-wise can now get their hands on an HTC that their wallets can handle.
The latest handset of the Desire range is targeted at low-budget buyers. HTC’s head honcho, Peter Chou, said as much: “Owning the latest and greatest technology shouldn’t be reserved for those with the highest budgets.”
And he seems to mean what he says; the new HTC Desire 510 is priced at just £149 without a SIM yet packs a surprising number of hi-tech goodies.
For this modest price you still get the latest Android 4.4 OS, which you can play around with through HTC’s proprietary Sense interface. And that’s HTC Sense 5.5 which is not too far flung from the Sense 6 on the widely praised M8.
Best of all, the new Desire offers users 4G connectivity.
For a fraction of the price of the flagship, of course you will not get the cream of the One M8’s features. But you do get some rather decent specs; a quad-core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 401 processor working hand in hand with 1GB RAM to keep things humming smoothly.
You will have a 4.7-inch display boasting a not-so-bad 854×480 resolution which gives you a pixel density of just about 200 ppi.
This is good enough for you to watch your favourite TV series (thanks to the LTE support) or movie and play your games, which you will be able to fit nicely into your 8GB of built in memory.
This memory is expandable through a microSD slot. Another feature that will be of interest is the Desire 510’s ability to work with the smart HTC Dot View case.
The case was lauded when it entered the market alongside the One M8 and it fitted the phone perfectly as well as had some neat features that worked with the One M8’s Motion Gestures.
Desire 510 owners will have access to some of the case’s basic features, those that don’t require support from the smart sensor hub.
The HTC One M8 is known for its dual UltraPixel camera but at the back of the Desire 510 users will find a 5 MP camera capable of recording 1080p video footage. At the front, in place of the 5 MP camera, 510 owners will find a simple VGA snapper for their selfies.
