Galaxy S5 Mini Set For Imminent Release

It’s now official; just like there was a Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini last year, there will be a mini version of Samsung’s latest flagship, the S5.

According to the Korean giant’s marketing machinery, the new devise is meant to give users who prefer a more compact phone the same awesome features and the same design in the fast-selling S5.

This is an S5 that you can more readily slip in and out of your jeans pocket or handbag. For this you will have to forego the dazzling 5.1-inch screen and a couple of other features that give the S5 its umph.

Instead of the five-inch display you will have to make do with a 4.5-inch screen with a 720×1280 resolution, down from the 1080×1920 Super AMOLED display of the flagship phone.

And in place of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, the mini phone will be powered by a 1.4GHz Exynos CPU. Shutterbugs might be a bit disappointed as the 16 MP back camera in the Galaxy S5 has been replaced by an 8 MP snapper.

The quality of selfies will more or less remain the same as both Samsungs will have a 2 MP front-facing camera.

Among the features that have been retained from the original S5 are the Android 4.4 KitKat platform and the S Health app, the wireless network capabilities, including support for 4G networks and the IP67 water and dust resistance.

The fingerprint scanner and heart rate monitor will also be found on the S5 Mini. And for those long trips where every drop of battery juice is vital there is the Ultra Power Saving Mode. Parents with hyper-curious kids can also rely on Kids Mode to block certain features just as they would with the S5 Mini’s big brother.

The new Samsung S5 went on sale in the UK just a few days ago through a couple of mega phone stores and the official Samsung website.
